Beaches on the East Coast???
Holy cow it's been a while since my last post. I officially moved out of the campus dorms into campus apartments so that's the main reason I've been kind of MIA. Moving even a few blocks away is NO JOKE, people! Especially when it's like 80 degrees weather!!
***Anyway, last week a few friends and I headed to Rockaway Beach when it was over 90 degree weather! Firstly... let me tell you... it took us about 2 hours to get there by train. Apparently this is one of the larger, "nicer" beaches around NYC. Tons of people were packed with their sun umbrellas and beach gear. Considering I went to undergrad in San Diego where it was a five minute drive to one of the nicer beaches, the train ride felt like forever! BUT, when we finally got there, it felt AMAZING. We had completely escaped the city life and it literally felt like we were on a mini getaway. It was refreshing to hear the sound of the ATLANTIC ocean and have our toes in the sand.
We also had some yummy fish tacos at a nearby taco shop by the beach. The line was also pretty dang long.. but it figures, it was one of the hottest days of the year so far. All in all, it was a good day. I can see why people who live in NYC NEED to just escape the city once in a while. City life can just feel congested, you know?
Alright, first official exam of the semester is tomorrow. Back to studying! Wish me luck! :P
