FIRST DAY OF THE DNP PROGRAM!
ONE last degree to achieve, and I am D-O-N-E!!! I began the Doctor in Nursing Practice program here at Columbia Nursing today. If you're just popping in, hello! I completed the Master's Direct Entry (MDE) program at Columbia just last month. I am granted the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree and am currently studying for the NCLEX (licensing exam) that I will be taking soon!
First day of class complete! It was an online class (Intro to Clinical Bioethics) so I basically only stepped outside today to go grocery shopping.
I am studying to become a Family Nurse Practitioner (and sub-specializing in women's health -- that's why I'm taking that maternal-fetal-newborn physio course listed below). Just two more years of didactic and one year of residency and I am done done done with school! However, I am excited to continue learning in my clinical practice as healthcare and medicine is continually evolving.
My schedule isn't TOO TOO bad, classes Tues - Friday:
Classes for Fall Semester 2017 -->
N8568 Practicum: Advanced Clinical Assessment (clinical rotation at a nursing home)
Tues 8am-4pm
BIET 5400 Intro to Clinical Bioethics

Wed 10am-12:50pm

Fri 9am-12pm
N9110 Fundamentals Lifespan I
Fri 1pm-3pm
N9150 Scholarly Writing
(online class)
N9113 Fundamentals Lifespan I Seminar
Every other Wednesday 9am-10am
I am currently feeling a little overwhelmed. The NCLEX is fast approaching and you need to pass to be a licensed RN. On top of that, adjusting to a whole new program and school schedule is always a little stressful at the beginning of a new school year. On top of that, I will be heading to Washington DC this Thursday for the CDC's "My Motivating Moment" to speak alongside other individuals to discuss stories regarding breast health and to hear others' stories about breast cancer. DEEP BREATHS THOUGH. Pray for me, y'all. Needing all your good vibes. <3 Thanks for being so supportive so far!
Sincerely,
Meagan
